I know this years iPhones have only just been released, but I was tweeting my friend who writes for Engadget about the iPhone lineup and it got me wondering what its going to look like going forward.
Apple has so many iPhones for most peoples budgets, but because they have so many I wonder what next years lineup will look like. I highly doubt the XS/Max will hang around as a lower cost option if they refresh the XR next year as the reduced cost of the XS/Max will completely wipe out sales for the refreshed XR.
Personally I believe next years lineup will be as follows:
5.8/6.5" premium OLED models with a 6.1 LCD model as the 2019 entry level.
The 2018 XR will hang around as the sole model from this year as the XS/Max will kill sales for the revised 6.1 LCD
The 8/8+ may drop to be the low end budget models.
Maybe a smaller SE style model might come in at the lower end and replace the 8/8+ but that would require some amazing miniaturisation of the edge to edge display tech and face ID to be a reality.
I'm curious as to what you guys think as since Apple released a 3rd model iPhone this year it has thrown a spanner in the works when it comes to next years refresh.
