I would like to upgrade mac mini 2007 hard drive

What is an good apple certified internal hard drive to buy and can a apple authorized service center (not apple stores) do this type of work?

You can check out the drives at Other World Computing (OWC) -- they carry Apple friendly drives. I don't believe there's such a thing as "apple certified drives" officially.

Thanks do I need a special HD? Like what hard drive will I need I have the 2007 edition with 1.83 GHZ I can't do it myself my screw things up even worse.

You want a SATA drive. Yes, this Samsung will work. As brasscat said, basically any 2.5" notebook drive will work. One note of caution: I don't believe the very top capacity drives will work in the Mini. I think the largest drive that will fit is a 640 MB model. There are some drives that go up to 1 TB, but they're thicker and I don't know if they'll fit in the Mini. You'll want a drive with a height of 9.5 mm. The drives that are potentially too big have a height of 12.5 mm.

Check the videos on macsales.com or on YouTube. If you think you can do it then cal OWC andthey will hook you up. If you don't think you want to try it yourself then find a good repair service and get them to provide the hardware andinstall it. Good luck and watch the videos as they are very informative.

the new mac mini server uses 2 500gb drives in it. maybe you can find out which brand and model they use and get one of those? If Apple trusts it then that's a good one to look at

I upgraded my 2007 Mini with a Hitachi Travelstar 5K500.B (Type No. HTS545032B9A300). It is a 320GB drive and even the 500GB model (HTS545050B9A300) should fit perfectly since both are 9.5 mm thick.

Since OtherWorldComputing has already been mentioned, I would suggest that you go to their upgrade center, select which Mini you have, choose what sort of upgrade you want and pick from the selection. If you use the upgrade center, OWC will sell you a drive that will work.
