How much faster is the I5 vs the I3?
Is it true the I5 is only available via the online store? Id love to be able to pick it up locally.
i just placed my order with 21.5" i5!i am sure i won't regret it!

About 12.5% in multithreaded performance and ~20.6% in single-threaded performance.
How do you come up with these numbers? Where are you getting your data from?
According to these benchmarks. The i5 660 is less than %10 percent faster in almost every bench mark. And it runs at 3.33Ghz. The i5 680 runs at 3.6.
I would have ordered one already but this is really giving me pause. According to the benchmarks the 200.00 doesn't seem its worth it. But I hoping it is. We will have to wait and see the benchmarks for the imac as a whole.
I will be ordering one either way tomorrow. Maybe use the extra 200.00 on Ram if the benchmarks are this close.

Just simple maths. 3.6GHz divided by 3.2GHz equals 12.5% with my maths. 3.86GHz divided by 3.2GHz equals 20.6%. They are based on same architecture etc so that should be fairly accurate.
That's just theoretical difference though, we have to wait till real world benches to see the real difference but theoretically, i5 should be 12.5% faster in e.g. HandBrake
Apple makes it so easy to spend your money. Just for a little more you can get this, and for a little more you can get that!
Damn you Apple!![]()
What will perform better: the 3.2 ghz i3, or the 2.66ghz i5 from lastgen? I'm debating whether to buy a refurb 27" i5 for $1799, or a new 27" i3 for $1699.
2.66GHz i5 will be a lot faster. It's quad core while i3 is dual core
