Surprising benchmark scoring

cpumarku9600.JPG

SU9600 stock

I5-430 UM stock

89 points difference

and note that I5-430 CULV is actually slightly faster than the I5-520 CULV

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html

over here SU9600 is position 228 while I5-520 is position 221 and I5-430 is 220.

Surprisingly, the SU9600 bitch slaps the I3 CULV which is consistent with our information

The I3-330um CULV is position 251. even the SU9400 on base MBAs is 242.

So for all you prospective air purchasers, bottom line is that the MBA has enough weight to throw around and this is coming from a person who always thought even I3 CULV was faster.

GeekBench and CineBench for instance. Even those are still synthetic so benchmarks like HandBrake are what I'm waiting for.

i3-380UM @1.33GHz - 1274

That's why I don't trust PassMark...

yes that was honestly quite surprising to me too hmm. but note that the ones reflected on the website are averaged whereas the results above which i posted SSs of are actual benches from owners. So i would say they are reflective of the actual situation

The higher clocked i3 (1.33ghz) out performs a similar architecture, but lower clocked, i5 (1.2ghz).

A much higher clocked (1.6hz), but older generation cpu, manages to keep similar performance.

What is so surprising?

The real gains in the Sandy Bridge i5/i7 is in the Turbo Boosting.

If the benchmarks can trigger turbo boosting, we'd see what the real differences are.
