I might be getting ahead of myself here, but I am getting my i7 delivered on monday and was wondering for the first turn on should I connect (hard wire) it to my Airport Extreme (which is connected to my cable modem) and go from there OR just go through the initial set up and then start connect to the net etc...?

Any help appreciated

If you plan to use it wirelessly in general then there's no need. OSX comes AirPort ready during setup.

Thx for the quick response!!

I planned on using the wire 'cos I believe it is faster - yes?

Well.. locally for sure, but in terms of the internet, chances are that your provider's bandwidth is lower than wireless N's capabilities.

But in general, if you can easily use a wire, then go for it.

Actually there is an addition.

It depends upon which airport extreme you have. I have a 27" and had to buy a brand new airport extreme and had to actually use the install dvd update. But like they said above everything else is ready.
