When i watch movies with the lights in my room off, and the frame in the film is completely black, I can see areas around the inside edge of the screen that are lighter in color than the center of the screen almost like light from behind the screen is shining through a little.

Is this normal or was this screen not manufactured properly?

Depends on the severity of what you're describing. It appears to be backlight bleeding, but all LCDs have that problem.

not normal. we have a lab of 27"s at uni and only a few display this problem. mine does too. contact apple.

Yup, that's exactly what mine looks like.

*sigh*

I was hoping I would be one of the lucky ones who scored an i7 with no issues... guess not.
