My i7 was enroute to be delivered today until I checked the shipping and saw a big red warning. "item sent back for inspection" So i got ahold of fedex and apparently the box had been damaged in "some way" and glass was coming out.

Talk about being on cloud 9, only to be dropped right back down.

Now I'm just depressed :(

Accidents happen. At least they caught it and Apple will make it right. Sorry you have to wait longer though.

Quick Question QQ

I have a question. I am eventually going to order an iMac i7 over the internet and I am wondering if I need to return it will I be able to return it to the Apple store?

I know its most likely a no because an i7 is not a stock iMac that they sell in the store.

That is a question you should ask your local Apple Store, in addition when you're in there check to see if they are now carrying the i7 machine. My local store (Santa Clara, CA) does and I've heard reports from other posters their stores do too.

If you order it online you have to return it online. However you can exchange and repair at the store.

... box had been damaged in "some way" and glass was coming out.

That glass bit.... not usually a good sign.

Look on the bright side though. Would rather have received the box, and then had to go through hassle of contacting Apple and FedEx to get it sorted out. At least this way its being done for you. Not much of a silver lining, I know... but it's the best I can come up with, eh?

If that would have happened to me.. I would break down and cry! haha

It freaked me out!!.I was doing a bit of gardening when I saw the truck coming but when he pulled up something said TELL him to be careful with that!!...and just as I was about to say it he jumps out of the truck with my iMac holding it by the CRAPPY handle( I never, never pickup heavy things by the handle of the box )and ...faaaarump!!!.......:apple:

It was his fault but I blame Apple more ...that handle sucks! It is a rinky dink setup.Who knows how often it was tossed around at Fedex.Maybe spending .50 to make a better handle is too much overhead!....even a "handle with EXTREME loving care" was too much to put on the box.

I love my Macs but man ....they can be cheap and stupid (e.g iPhones!!!)...

Just wanted to give a heads up.. And a nod

Apple sent my replacement iMac out that day after contacting them, overnight shipping, and I got the shipment only 1 day later..

Just amazing. Here I am thinking I would need to wait a week, and I only had to wait a day.

And to my surprise when I turned on my iMac browsing in Finder, low and behold, I had a 2TB hard drive, not the 1TB I had ordered!!

Apple must have given me the wrong one, or just grabbed this one for the hassle. Either way I'm extremely happy its here and glad I waited the day! :D

That annoyance was worth the extra gig of space. Huge difference.

mine came by ups and had a damaged box,a large foot print on the box where it was either pushed or stood on and the machine had been given go little care there was damage to the logic board, apple is fixing it in store as it was a refurb and apples policy with refurbs is not to replace in first 14 days but refurb and there was a chance that they wouldnt have the same machine in stock for this price so apple store for fix it is that was 3 weeks ago they rang 4 days ago to say the screen was also damaged after they fixed logic board so are currently awaiting replace screen to arrive, although i cant fault the work the store is doing, i bought my machine over three weeks ago and have yet to use it and feel this is very poor.
