I am planning to replace my almost 6 year old PPC iMac with new "i7 with SSD 256GB only" option. No platter drive.
I currently use about 300 GB space, which I cam cut down to 230 GB after spring clean. I use the imac for photos, internet, music, iWork and occasionally to watch films. I might use it in the future for home video editing.
The question is-
1. Is this SSD user replaceable, when prices come down and I decide to go for 500gb or so?
2. Does it really improve quality of computer use as people say-quick load, silent, and less whine from the fan(i hope)?
3. Does SSD deteriorate over time?
4. Am I missing something here, if I drop the option of platter drive?
I am still anxious about glossy display- my iMac is is 20" matte, bought on day 1 after Paris expo 2004.
Thanks.
