Now that iAd is going away, what would be a good Ad service to use instead?

I use AdMob, but revenues certainly aren't what they used to be.

Is it due to the high competition with similar apps in the AppStore, or because AdMob is no longer paying as good as before?

I've been looking at AdMob as an alternative to iAd, as recommended above.

I see that Google now offers the AdMob SDK as part of Firebase.

Is there a real benefit to install Firebase or is it just going to make my app bigger and bloated?
I have always been in favor of keeping things plain and simple, but I would like to hear your opinions:
AdMob SDK standalone or AdMob SDK as part of Firebase?
