Here comes iBetaTest.com
Hi All, iBetaTest.com here to help
I noticed a lot of visits coming to the site from this post lately and then when I saw you have some questions, I decided to join and help you all out.
The chicken and egg problem:
- The main idea is that one cannot publish an app for a download, until he/she has beta tester's UDID's to generate the .mobileprovision file.
Here's how to go around this:
1) Developer first publishes an app on iBetaTest.com - without .mobileprovision file, and without the application file as well. You do not have to have files in order to have an app open to beta testers on-line.
2) Once your beta testers apply and once you have enough, you close the beta for signups, and then generate a .mobileprovision file from the UDID's you can see on all of your beta testers. Beta testers cannot apply for your app unless they have the device you require and UDID alraedy registered in the system. This way, whoever applies, you now exactly if they will be able to test your app or not.
Conveniently there is an option to download a bulk (tab separated) file of all of your beta testers and their UDID's - so you do not have to copy/paste them one by one. You just import the file into Apple's portal and that's it.
3) Once you have the .mobileprovision file - you edit your application, upload the files, set permissions (it's wise to have .mobileprovision and the application itself shown just to your testers and not everyone else), and you're done.
4) Optinally you can email all of your testers with a click of a button, telling them the files are now uploaded, they can download and test the app.
5) You use the integrated reports module to communicate with your testers about bugs, feature requests, comments, etc.
If you guys have any further questions let me know
