Is anyone using the current hardware config of the 12" iBook with Propellerhead Reason 3.0?

how does it run?

another thing i'm a bit confused with, the OS X GUI uses the ram from the video card or from the main memory?
like if i were to upgrade ram on the iBook, would it run better or would it be just a video ram issue?

thanks

i had a set up going for a short preiod at school it ran fine, but i can tell that those kinda aprograms are made for powerbook though. its heat the ibook up a whole lot

Im thinking of running it too.... I just bought an iBook and Garageband clearly isnt a good enough solution for me... the PDFs it comes with recommend a pretty low spec Mac though... I think it should run fine, but obviously not with any great speed. In programs like this though, having a lot of RAM is just as important as the processor... stick an extra 512mb of ram into your iBook and it will run fine I think

Reason has always been nicely optimized for the Mac, as well as the G4. you should be able to get quite a lot done with Reason on a modern iBook with some RAM. be aware though that Reason 3 is noticeably more CPU hungry than previous versions. still, you should be quite happy with the performance.

is the iBook's current 512mb built-in ram enough for everything else though? like applications in general, surf, chat, school stuff, no games

and if i want to run virtual pc, i would be better off with 1gb total ram right?

i'm not gonna add ram on the day of my purchase, but maybe a bit later on. if i buy from the apple store it would be more expensive but it would be covered under warranty and applecare. but if i buy elsewhere it would be much cheaper, but i dunno about compatibility

Yup its fine, you shouldnt really need to upgrade to 1gb or more unless you are into multi-tasking etc.......

But saying this if you can afford it, go for an extra 512mb stick it will make your iBook a little nippier and will be more future compatible,

ok ic, becuase in the winxp world, 512mb is clearly not enough, and i know macs use the resources differently than pcs

anyone know if the Reason 3.0 cds work the same for both pc and mac? cuz that's what i heard, just i set of cds for both platforms. but then i wonder how it can be installed on the mac, since the setup application is an .exe file. i also know that in mac os x, you just drag and drop programs in the application folder to install them. is that anything to do with that?

also plz tell me how to use .dmg image files, .toast and .cdr. do i have to burn them first? or is there a daemon i can use for virtual cd/dvd drive?

thanks

ps: i will buy the 12" iBook on tuesday!!!
:D
