So I keep reading that the iBook app will only be available to people in the US to start with.

Does anyone know if that means it is tied to people with a US iTunes account?
Or if it downloadable only through a US IP address?

I currently reside in middle of nowhere Japan.
And I was planning on getting a US iPad shipped to me in May or so,
because I expect it to be cheaper than buying it here in Japan.

I have a active iTunes account with a credit card tied to a US address.

Do you think it would be possible to get the iBook app downloaded here in Japan through my US iTunes account?
Or maybe even have the iPad box opened in the US and download the app before it's shipped to me in Japan?

If I can get it working, do you think the same issue would be tied to the books sold through iTunes/iBook? That it would get all uppity about my Japanese IP address?

Thanks.

I have a US iTunes account (I'm an Aussie) and have never had any problems buying apps, content or anything from my US account anywhere in the world.

Question.

If I download all my apps from a Canadian account, then use a US one to download the iBooks app, can both exist side by side? Or can I only sync one account's apps at once?

And to get a US account don't you just click "Create account" or whatever when it says this app is only available in the US?

To get a US account these days you need a US CC billed at a US address, perviously you could open an account with just a US iTunes card and US address;). Anyone please correct me if you can still do the US iTunes card only set up or if it is asking for a US billed CC at set up.

But if you already have a US account (refillable by US iTunes gift cards,) sign into your US account, sync your US apps then sign into your CAD account and sync those apps.

I thought I read somewhere that the iBook store will go international in june so if your buying in may it wont be that long.

Works with iTunes gift cards

I created one with gift cards/vouchers and just had to put in an american address, for which you can be creative about *chuckles*

I have $190 to spend on books, tv shows (hopefully they will get the reduction as promised), HD films (UK you can't buy unless you have :apple:tv grr) and apps when it launches there first!
