iBooks - adding ePub

Does anyone know if iBooks allows 3rd party ePub files (ideally, PDF as well)? There are lots of free ePub files out there (e.g., Project Gutenberg).

I would assume so, otherwise using ePub is worthless, as apple's drm can't be used on another device. It might be transferable through the shared directory its supposed to have
