iBooks constantly in night mode.

iBooks on my iPad and my iPhone think it's nighttime. Night mode is set to auto. Isn't this based on the system clock?
How can this be corrected?
 
I believe it's based on the ambient light sensor, so if it's sensing that it's dark enough, it will use night mode.

That was it thanks, totally makes sense now.
I guess I need a lighter room to read.
