I am a long time user of stanza and I am trying iBooks for the sole reason I can read the same book across my iPhone and iPad with saved position and bookmarks etc.

Only now I am finding that there seems to be big problems with simply closing iBooks and coming back to it ten minutes later on the same device. Sometimes it is exactly where I left off and others it is a whole chapter behind, which is completely unacceptable.

It is connected to wifi, what gives?

Only thing I can think of is manually setting bookmarks which is annoying because I forget and then sure enough next time I come back to iBooks it is a ways behind where I left it.

Is there another book reader as good as stanza that can sync position across devices?

So this is a widespread problem?

BTW most of my books are imported epubs, not purchased via iTunes.
