iBooks has become unusable since iOS 11 update due to two bugs:

1. Sharing text snippets doesn’t work with 3rd party apps (Google Keep, Dayone, etc)

2. It is freezing twice a day. Closing iBooks from multitask doesn’t work. It requires a device reboot.

3. PDF’s are being randomly deleted.

Bonus: I have also noted that when in low power mode the 30 sec autolock feature stops working randomly when using iBooks.

Any workaround? Thanks for listening and excuse my english.

I’m also finding books/PDF’s are being deleted:- I add an item, come back the following day and it has been deleted.

The vanishing PDFs can be worked around by dragging the PDFs into iBooks from Files (on iPads - dragging doesn’t work quite the same way on the iPhone), instead of using the Sharing menu.

If you’re using iCloud for iBooks and do this on an iPad, the PDFs will then also be available for download on iPhones.

Weird. I haven’t noticed any problems on either my iPad Pro or my X. I’ll load a few more PDFs in there tonight and keep an eye on it.

it's utter garbage! I study and highlighting parts of text was brilliant! Now, the option is gone, replaced by a pen (great if you have an apple pen, garbage if you don't).

I also find books don't sync properly, turning the page sometimes the app will go back to the books then back to the page (happens once or twice a day).

iOS10 brilliant, iOS11, awful! Even now it feels like a beta!

Honestly, it's been the worst OS so far for the iPhone.

iOS 11.2.5 beta 3 and still same bugs on iBooks.

This is not serious. We are talking about a very important stock app. 4 months since iOS 11 release and iBooks keeps crashing for me 2-3 times a day, forcing me to reboot device to keep reading.

iBooks deletes uploaded Pdfs. 30 sec autolock screen stops working when using iBooks under low power mode. 3rd party apps sharing doesn’t work.

yup, it is awful!

I use iBooks via an iPad Mini for reading Open University books and it's terrible!

Report to Apple :) that's all we can do

iOS 11.3 beta 2 and iBooks (now Books) can’t even stay in memory more than 5 minutes.

I recommend using Adobe Acrobat, because it has dark mode for all contents from any ebook, which I never found in any other app (some apps do have this feature, but it doesn't work with ebooks made only of images). Dark mode is useful for these reasons:

https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...t-night-black-background-for-reading.2051591/

Try it here:

https://itunes.apple.com/br/app/adobe-acrobat-reader/id469337564?mt=8

If your ebook is only available in ePUB, try converting it to MOBI:

https://ebook.online-convert.com/convert-to-mobi

Since the resulting file is the same (ePUB when converted to MOBI doesn't change drastically), you can use Kindle for iOS to read it:

https://itunes.apple.com/br/app/kindle/id302584613?mt=8

Kindle for iOS also has dark mode. I usually do these conversions and upload to the Amazon cloud.

Thanks for your recommendation! I have switched to Marvin reader.
