Somehow my iCal has been corrupted. So how can I get a replacement one.
It would be a bonus if when I run the new one it re-establishes all my appointments ( past / present & future ).

I have the Mountain Lion Install Package, and hold COntrol button clicked it to show it's contents, but I couldn't find it.

cheers all

Just delete it and reintall ML from your installer and it will put it back. This will not overwrite your data. Backup first anyway though.

Thanks for the tip but it didn't work. Surely there is a way to get a corrupted app replaced - without going through the whole re-installation drill ( which as I said didn't work anyway )

cheers

I can't imagine any way that wouldn't have worked, but you can try Pacifist. It should allow you to find the portion of the install disk that installs Calendar (not called iCal in Mountain Lion).

you're sure it's the APP that's corrupt, and not the data?

copy your Calendars folder from your user library before you do anything (you can, for example, option-drag it to the desktop).

try a test user account, see if the Calendar app works there.

if you're sure it's the app, pacifist (as mentioned above) can extract the app from the installer...

Cheers - I'll try it.

Just to be clear..I don't have ML Discs - rather the 4.4gb ML Installer file I downloaded from the Apps store when I upgraded from Lion.

Well - pacifist didn't work.

Surely there is somewhere you can just download the app?

Unfortunately you can't just download it. Pacifist usually works. It's a shame it did not. Is the data corrupt like someone suggested?
By the way how is it corrupted? What happens when it is launched? Does the system log show any errors relating to Calendar?

did you try Calendar with a test account? (it's not called iCal in ML).

and what exactly is happening when you open the app?

are you on 10.8.2? if so, you could go to the apple site, run the combo update...might fix the app.
but be sure that's the issue... (so TRY a test user)...

A little more detail than "didn't work" would help us troubleshoot. Saying Pacifist didn't work is like saying your computer won't turn on. There's not enough detail to go on. I suspect you don't need to reinstall the program, but instead need to find the cause of whatever the actual problem is, but you need to give us more details to go on if we're going to help.

If you go to /Applications and delete Calendar.app and reinstall from the ML installer you have, you are saying when you go back to /Applications it has not put the Calendar.app back there? I can't imagine what is going on that it would not.

I think you have something else going on.

As suggested, create a new test account and see if you can run Calendar from there.
