iCal problem with events

Hi

I have a problem where my iCal events are suddenly appearing side by side. See image comparison below. If I change the time of the 9-5 event to 8.30, it then goes full view again. What is happening here? I don't want them showing up in two columns on the same day

I've been having a problem in Day view with multiple events overlapping each other making seeing the ones underneath impossible to see.
