Am I just dumb/blind/whatever, or has iCal on the iphone not been shown at all? I have yet to see it in action, whereas I've seen more than I need to know about stocks and weather...

if there is iCal info out there, could someone point me to it?

if not, what's the holdup? what's it gonna be like?

Well unfortunately besides the very brief MWSF video of the iCal app and the get ready emails from Apple, the iCal app hasn't been shown much. It will be much like iCal on OS X I assume, I'm just hoping I can have color coded calendars like the regular iCal has. Another cool thing to hope for is the ability to add events from inside emails.

On the "get ready for iPhone" page, the iCal that they use in the picture looks like the Leopard version, of which has really been demoed that much either. Could we be getting a little upgrade before the 29th?

It would be pretty crappy if iPhone could not accept manual entries into it's calendar, like the iPod can't. But isn't iCal's current version's software restrictions the reason why calendar widgets cannot be used to enter data?

The first time I saw the iPhone, I thought "yes, finally a PDA that will work perfectly with the Mac and not only that, it is a Mac." I hope I'm not wrong.

It would be disappointing if you can't enter appts into iCal on iPhone. I know the calendar is there, and I'm assuming if you get meeting requests in email it will add them to your calendar, so based on that assumption, you should be able to create new appts from iPhone.

You the saying about assumptions though....Assumption is the mother of all @#$! ups!

Very common for phones to allow you to enter appointments in the phone. I would expect the iPhone to do this. However, like you said ... the big thing I am also looking for is being able to accept and send out meeting invites directly from the phone. I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to smash my Treo because it doesn't have this very basic functionality.

If the iPhone doesn't have a built in method to handle this, then I will need to find a way to make it happen.

In the "get ready for iPhone" email blast, it states that you will be able to enter appointments directly on the iPhone.

Yes, it's already been stated and officially confirmed that you'll be able to enter appointments directly on the iPhone, so no need to worry about that.

the keynote itself confirmed the manual entry
