My girlfriend and I have been using iChat without a problem for the past few weeks to connect my Powerbook and her windows PC together so we can video chat. The only problem that we have experienced is stalled video on her end, most likely due to the slow connection she has at her Apt. building (Shared broadband). Anyway, today we tried to log in and we ran into a problem, the system wouldn't connect us because it gave an error on her end about a Firewall. She has Zone Alaram installed, so I told her to exit out of it and try again. She did this and we got the same error. I then had her make sure that the Windows firewall was off, which it was. My firewall for Mac OS X is not on, and no port blocking is being done by my Netgear router. Nothing has changed between the two systems, so I am having a hard time figuring out what the problem is. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas to fix it?
Here is my system:
1.5GHZ Powerbook 15"
128MB Ati Radeon 9700
1GB PC2700 RAM
80GB 5400RPM HD
iChat A/V
iSight w/latest firmware
OS X 10.3.4
Her system:
3GHZ Intel Pentium 4
1GB PC3200
128MB ATi Radeon 9800 Pro
120GB Maxtor SATA 7200RPM HD
Logitech QuickCam 4000 Pro
AIM 5.5.(latest version)
Windows XP Professional w/SP1 and all updates.
Update:
I just tried running a video chat between my Mac and my other home windows PC and got the same error. So what gives? Is there anything I can change to make it work? The only software I have added in the last few days has been .Mac and Quicksilver. Could either of these be giving me an error? Is there a way to reinstall iChat?
Update 2:
Well, I went and tried a lot of different configurations and so far I have found that I can connect to her sisters machine, which is just in the other room from where she is at (same network), she can connect to her sister's machine, but we cannot connect to each other. Any ideas?
