iChat any good?

I just got my first Mac and would like to add friends to my buddy list. How will this work bc ALL of my friends use AIM on a PC? Will formats be different or anything bc AIM on a PC u can customize everything and smileys, buddy icons, etc... how does iChat handle IM's w/ all my PC users? Will there be any problems? Oh, and btw, if these questions seem silly, its bc i havent even turned on my first mac yet. So, for all the people out there who use iChat to IM there windows friends with AIM, how well or bad is it?

Why not just give it a try?

It is in the system, it has more closely related Mac aware features, and offers a great interface. All of your buddy icons will show up, and smilies will look similar if not exactly the same.

It doesn't take long to set up. In the time it took you to create this topic, you could have tested it out. if you don't like it, download AIM from AOL and go with that.

i have yet to find an IM client on my pc that compares to ichat, at the moment i'm useing gaim and it's half decent.

iChat is awesome, I've tried Adium a couple times and always went running back to iChat.

not as good as Adium X. (Unless of course you are planning on using video chat).
