IChat disconnecting

I've never had a laptop before, so I dont know if this is normal or not.

My friend just got a Macbook (his first Mac). When he closes the comp, ichat disconnects. I told him to uncheck "put HD to sleep" and "put comp to sleep" is set to never.

Is it normal for ichat to disconnect, or is there another setting?

Yep, that's normal, and no, you can't change that setting (AFAIK).
