I just purchased an AlBook, and I also got the iSight because I am spending the summer in Beijing. I want to video chat with my family back in the states, but we are having a problem. They have a PC with a Logitech camera. They are able to see and hear me, but I get absolutely no video or audio from them. They have a NetGear router because they have two computers online. I have read that the iSight is not compatible with NetGear routers, but this doesn't make sense because they are getting my video perfectly. Could their router be blocking the outgoing video? Is there any way to get around that other than disconnected the router entirely?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have been unable to see my daughter since I left the states. Thanks a bunch.

which pc (system) are they using? it is the latest AIM they use, right?

can they make the video work when they talk to other peoplee?

They are using AIM 5.5, so it seems like it should work. As for video conferencing with other people, I don't know if it works. They don't know anyone else online to try it out. We are very frustrated at this point, however, and we are willing to try just about anything to get it working.

The PC is only a couple months old, so I suspect that the Windows XP is also the latest version.

problem

I have the same problem with my parents

because they have a router.

ichat gets through the router just fine.. AIM 5.5 doesn't

you can, however, use yahoo chat.

or ophonex

The reason i am using iChat is because I have iSight and I didn't think it would work with the Mac version of yahoo messenger. Please tell me if I am wrong so that I can get set up on yahoo.

Also, does disconnecting the router solve the problem? I want to try it, but my mom is not the most computer literate person in the world. I don't wan to have her unhooking cables if it is not going to help.
