iCloud - 1 iTunes, mulitple devices

I guess I'm a bit confused on how this is going to pan out.

My wife has an iPhone 4. I'll be getting an iPhone 4s. I also have an iPad.

RIGHT NOW :: Her iPhone, my iPad, and our iMac use my mobile me account. It's fine, because there's only one of each device.

WHEN I GET AN iPHONE WITH iCLOUD :: Will it be an issue? I don't want all of her pictures synced to my iPhone, and she doesn't want all of my documents and stuff on hers, etc etc etc. So will she need her own iCloud account and I have mine own? If so, does that mean apps will have to be purchased twice if we both want them?

I was about to post the same question as you.

We have 2 iPads and 2 iPhones using the same iTunes account. My concern is the same.....my son may not want to see my photos and vice versa. It was nice to have all of our apps under the same account, however it seems to me we might need to get our own accounts going forward.

you can turn off individual features of icloud, eg photo stream ect.

but personally I would create a new apple ID for every person, that way you would all get your own me.com email and be able to use all the iCloud features without getting in the way with others. eg for iMessage and facetime.

it's also important to note that you don't need to buy all your apps twice, the easiest way is to use itunes, buy all the apps in one itunes using one account then just sync all the apps to all the devices that way each persons device has their own apple ID/iCloud but uses the apps bought from another ID.

How would you sync apps bought with one Apple ID with devices that have a different ID associated with them?

with itunes on a computer, the sync process doesn't care about the apple ID associated with the device and itunes, just that the itunes is activated for the apps.

I guess that means for instance, my wife would should not buy any apps from her iDevice because they will not be consolidated in the primary account's app pool.

For some reason I thought when you did a sync with iTunes it associated whatever account was logged into iTunes with your iDevice. Am I mistaken?

apps bought on her device on her apple id would be loaded into itunes at her next sync, at which point if you synced your iphone to the itunes you could put that app on your phone too, but the app would still belong to her.

yes you can sign into a different apple id for the store on the device, so stuff you buy would come from your apple id but you still have apps on your phone from hers.

Was going to ask the same thing, but I think I understand it now. iTunes account and iCloud are different. We use just 1 iTunes account for the household. Right now my 2 kids have their own Touch. They want music or apps, I sync it from my iMac. Wife will be getting a 4S. She'll create her own iCloud iD. I do want her to have her own AppleID for facetime, etc.. I just want to make sure she can have all her own IDs, except for the iTunes account on her phone. Want to use the single account we're using now.

You should be able to set up new iCloud accounts and still have the App Store logged in with your existing AppleID on both devices.

iTunes needs to be authorised for each devices store account in order to work properly, but is do-able.

So this would allow everyone to take advantage of the iTunes Match program through the primary Apple ID?
