Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Ok, so here's the deal: I have a Mexican and American account with purchases on both. When I started iCloud on my Mac, I picked a really lame email address, I hate it. (this is on my Mexican account) I now want to create a better address with my american account and use that for my iCloud. now as I understand it, when starting up iOS 5, it prompts you to put in your account for icloud and iTunes store services, but, can you later "separate" your purchases account from your iCloud one? Can I keep using my American iCloud account while checking for updates to my apps and purchasing in my Mexican one?

(I'm asking this because I don't yet have an iOS 5 capable device, but I will next year (still have my good old 2nd gen iPod touch))

Please help me

You can merge your accounts... but you can use one account for iTunes purchases and another one for iCloud.

Good Luck

Sure, it's a simple question -- aren't they all? It's the answer that is a pain.

If I ignore the fact that you have accounts in two countries, here's how I see it:

a) you have email address "a" that purchased some stuff in the store
b) you have email address "b" that purchased some stuff in the store
c) you have an iCloud email address.

I have something similar...

I have 2 email addresses that I have purchased stuff on + my wife's as well. My default email address is <firstlast>@gmail.com. But, my iCloud address is completely different is first@last.com for instance. Since iCloud has nothing to do with the store, I think you are fine.

You cannot merge the store email addresses (a & b) that I am aware of. They are attached to those purchases. You should pick one for the store and just use it. If you try to play music that was purchased with the other, it will ask you to authorize.

The iCloud name can be changed at any time. I completely set mine up new yesterday. So, pick a new one, go into iCloud on your phone and change it.

Of course, this all ignores the "Mexican" vs. "American" account thing. I have no experience with that.

So you mean you can change the iCloud address name? or you can change what your phone registers as your iCloud name and keep what it registers as your store name intact?

And yeah, I can't check that's why I'm asking. I don't have an iOS 5 device yet, but I will. :(

You can change:
- which address your phone uses for iCloud
- which address your phone uses for Store

They don't have to be the same but they can be the same. They are not specifically related though. You'll probably need to fool with it to completely understand.
