I've found that iCloud keep adding certain surname info to some of my contacts. No matter which device I change it on, iCloud changes it back within a few hours. For example I have "Mum" as one of my contacts. I leave the surname blank, but iCloud will change it to "Mum Smith".

It kinda drives me nuts...

Any ideas?

Same thing here. I have found that if I put a space in the last name field it will stay correct for a little bit longer but it always changes back. This is really annoying. Particularly on "Mom" and "Dad". It is weird to see it come up as Mom Peterson when my mother calls me. People are always asking me why I don't know my parents last name lol.

Put your mum's full name in the contact. Then add a Nickname field with the value of Mum. You will be able to search for Mum as you did before, send emails to Mum, use Siri to contact Mum etc.

The problem with that is that it still comes up as Mom Peterson when she calls me

Yes - I have noticed that this happens with my wife too, as I only have her first name in my contacts. I already know her surname. It's the same as mine. Quite annoying.

Ok, I managed to fix the problem using part of this. What I did was as you suggested, I added the nickname. Then after that, I saved the contact, then went back in and deleted the last name (surname). So far the last name had not come back and it has never made it 24 hours before so I am thinking it will stay fixed now. Thanks!!!

**** Edit**** I didn't use the nickname field after all. I used the relationship field "Mother" with the value as Mom.
