Hi All,

I purchased the ibook ‘The Husband’ by Dean Koontz via ibooks on the release of the iphone 4 back in June 24th 2010. I had never got round to reading this book.
I now have an Ipad 2 and am halfway through the book. Long story short with icloud functionality of re-download for ibooks and apps launched the other day (just these 2 for the UK)
I decided (very stupidly) to delete my copy (Unknowingly at the time that this was my only copy) and re-download from the cloud. just testing ...,

I did just that. However when I went to my purchased list to re-download the book, the book was not on the list. After investigating via my account purchase history I have now confirmed that the book is 100% linked to my account and I also confirmed that the exact book was still in the ibook store (albeit with a new 50p cheaper price and a different cover).

I emailed customer services regarding the matter asking why this book does not show up in my list to download from the icloud.

To which I received an apology reply and a credit for 1 movie rental credit. The customer service guy also went on to say that the copy which I purchased is no longer available and time to time itunes will update items so they are of best quality for the consumer.

This book is the only book I have purchased via itunes with my own money (others being, winne the pooh and the life of Pi – free over xmas period) and out of the 3 books I have linked to my account only 1 is available via icloud. It appears that I can no longer download winnie the pooh and The husband because of minor changes to these books, this is very poor.

My question is this, have any of you guys experienced purchased items missing from your purchased lists?

How common is this?

Am I just very unlucky?

I know the solution is to back up, but I didn’t think I would encounter anomalies this early with such few purchases.

this has nothing to do with icloud.

maybe i should have been more clear the book which i purchased last year show up in my purchased history and purchased list (left side of itunes)

However it does not show in the new purchased section in itunes and ibooks store.

therefore that minor change on the purchased book (updated cover now) caused the lack of re-download ability of this purchase

I thought the new purchased lists which were made... were displaying previously purchased icloud available content?

I think it has to be remembered that they have not actually released/started up iCloud officially yet and that everything that we currently have access to forms part of the Beta testing (along with developers)

I'm not saying that your book shouldn't have shown up but I suspect they are still ironing out the issues that arise given that it is only Beta and not released.

have had similar in the past, if something is removed/changed on the app store you have had it

I have some DRM albums that i bought years ago, these have been replaced by new non DRM versions
As its a new release of the same album i am not eligible for itunes upgrade, i would need to buy the whole thing again

as someone else said, its not really an iCloud issue, just the exact thing you purchased is now not on the store (been replaced by a slightly different one, new cover on it)

I understand what you were saying, I might be just expecting to much. I guess I was alarmed that I had only ever downloaded 3 books and 1 of them is no longer available because of the change.

This initially indicated to me that it could be a wide spread issue for customers down the line. But I guess I have just been unlucky
