Hi there,

Just setup iCloud on my IOS 5 iPhone. Loving it so far. One thing I have been unable to do is have my exchange contacts / calendar also appear on iCloud. Does anyone know if this is possible?

I would love to be able to update my calendar on iCloud which would then go to my iPhone and also exchange account. Am I asking for too much?

Not quite OR at least not completely. We have found that iCloud backups do backup (and make restoring possible of course) Exchange contacts.

This is completely unwanted by us AND a bit irresponsible of Apple to offer this without a way to quell this behavior as it makes Enterprise professionals even more challenged in this regard toward being good custodians of corporate owned data.

Try it for yourself. If anyone knows how to keep Exchange Contacts away from the iCloud, tips would be warmly received. :)

I got got the same problem.
I am using an iPhone 4 with Exchange in the office and would like to forward contacts and calendar events automatically to my private iPad (no exchange access).

What I am wondering is, why it's not possible to merge exchange and iCloud calendars (or contacts respectively).
I always have to choose which calendar should be shown on my iPhone (and iPad), but I cannot move the entries from the iPhone calendar (exchange) to the iPhone calendar (iCloud) so that the entries will be shown on the iPad as well (iCloud calendar).
Is that how it supposed to be???
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
NCO

The segregation of iCloud and Exchange data in sync (not backup) is by design.

My problem is that Exchange data is being included in Phone BACKUP (NOT ICLOUD SYNC) to iCloud. This also happens in backup to iTunes to local PC. This is less undesirable, but back up of confidential corporate data to a web service (even though it is stored and sent encrypted) is completely unacceptable.

This is disturbing. I wonder how many enterprises would allow iPhones to sync via EAS if they knew there data was being backed up to other stewards of information.

We have subsequently disabled backup to iCloud as their is no granularity to indicate what type of data you want to be allowed to backup. For instance, if there were a way to enable backup to iCloud (just exclude contacts or something else) we would re-enable it.

Sad, because this is a really cool feature, but it cannot be made available to users by any responsible IT shop.
