iCloud and iTunes Match Did Not Work

Last night I decided to subscribe to iTunes Match to upgrade my music library to AAC 256 and to have that peace of mind knowing that my songs are securely stored in iCloud. Besides the fact that only 17XX songs were matched, and 9XX had to be uploaded, I don't see where any of the matched songs went.

On my macbook, all I see on iTunes are the original versions of my music with no option to download the newly matched songs. A few songs have a dotted cloud that says waiting and a couple have a cloud next to them which says ineligible.

On my iPhone, all I see on the Music app is my original song content with the exception of the download cloud next to all the songs which were uploaded... not the songs which were matched.

I'm beginning to think apple just scammed me $25 lol :/
Any help and suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

iTunes Match isn't a way to upgrade your music if you've ripped it from wherever.
Your matched music remains on your MacBook. The file that plays is your original file.. Always will be.

But on other devices, that will be at 256. AppleTV, other iOS Devices etc etc.

You can get it to upgrade your matched songs by deleting them from iTunes. When you go to delete them, it will ask if you want to remove them from iCloud. Pick No. Then right click on the songs and select download.

Waiting? Does that mean it's still doing the Match/Upload? If so I'd wait until it was done before attempting to upgrade the music on your computer.

Since I don't use iTunes Match, I'm not sure of the process of upgrading the music in the original library. I think it may involve deleting the music off your computer and then it will show up for downloading. Note, make sure you have a backup of anything you delete.

The iTunes Match process was completed, but there are three songs with the dotted cloud symbol that says waiting when you hover the mouse over it. I'll back up and try your suggestions out. Thank you.

I finally got a chance to back up all the data and tried out your suggestions. When deleting the songs from iTunes, it did ask if I wanted to delete the songs from iCloud. I unchecked "delete from iCloud."

It is true that the Cloud symbol appeared next to the "deleted" song and when you hover the mouse over it, it says "Download from iCloud." However, those "deleted" songs with this option are grayed out; not letting me click the cloud to download the iTunes matched version.

Restarted iTunes and it seemed to work. It's pretty annoying to download each song again and keep track of which ones were not matched however, but it was only $25 to do so. Thank you for your suggestions. I appreciate the help

You can select a big bunch of them, right click, and click download. It'll only do the ones it needs to after you delete the local versions. There is a thread somewhere on here that says how to make a smart playlist of all matched but not redownloaded songs.

I think the criteria are iTunes match status "Matched" and file type doesn't contain Matched. Might be a little off though.
