How do I get podcasts I download on my iMac to show up/sync with my iPhone (without having to plug my iPhone into my iMac)?
I can put something in my iCal calendar on my iMac and it shows up on my iPhone.
I can download a song from iTunes on my iPhone and it shows up on my iMac.

So what’s the trick with Podcasts?

Does your phone ever sync with your Mac?

Mine's set to sync wirelessly over wifi whenever it's on the same network and the iPhone is plugged in. This syncs over any new podcasts (I have only new podcasts of certain podcasts selected).

In iTunes, Music and Podcasts are separate. Not sure why they have them that way. Could be because some podcasts are only a few MB and some are a few GB. Also, like me, I stopped listening to podcasts for a few months and really got behind. This would've filled up my iPhone pretty quick if they were downloading automatically and I had small storage.

That sort of makes sense, however I have my iPhone podcasts set to only sync the most recent 3 episodes of any podcast that I subscribe too. Syncing podcasts over wifi takes forever, and if my iPhone needs to be plugged in, why wouldn’t I just sync with my computer, which takes a fraction of the time?

It doesn't need to be plugged in. The plugging in activates the syncing. You can manually sync from both iPhone and iTunes.

Maybe send Apple feedback on this. I think this is the only reason I'm still syncing to my Mac.
