noticing an irritating icloud backup issue on my 2017 12.9" ipad pro. As in, the only time it performs one is if manually done. Then it takes over an hour, which may be an additional issue. Here are the stats:

12.9" 256gb gen 2 with 12.2gb used
50gb icloud storage w/5gb used
304 photos, no videos

I am used to my ipads, of the past backing icloud up as I charge overnight, usually every other night with my typical usage and taking about 3 minutes if I ever do backup manually. This 12.9" is set to allow auto icloud backup same way my other ipads have been. I am know beginning to get the message of 'icloud has not been backed up for 2 weeks'. Any help or should I call Apple?

Well damn. An hour? You're not taking 50gb of NEW videos everyday are ya? Cause that's definitely not normal. I have more than 1,000 photos and god knows how many videos. Used up a lot of space on my iPad and my iCloud backup goes automatically and typically takes less than 10 minutes. Because it's not like it re-backs up all the old stuff. Just new stuff.

I would suspect a problem with your home internet connection. Otherwise, double check all your iCloud settings on your iPad.

Yep an hour or more and I knew that wasn't normal. As far as my home internet, I am in a very rural area and have my local landline provider as my ISP with 8mbps as the fastest available BUT it gives me no problems otherwise on my device backup in the past or with my appletv streaming. This just started when I got my 12.9" ipp on June 16. It has never backed up automatically just if I manually do that. I will restart my Centurylink Router, try another backup and then I guess a call to Apple will happen. Thanks for the reply.

Just wanted to update. I ended up calling Apple. The CS Rep did everything he said was available to do over the phone and nothing changed. He ran diagnostics which showed no problems with iPad found. He recommended an appt with the Apple Store. As the nearest one is about 75 mi away, I told him I would try erasing the iPad and setting it up as new first before scheduling an appt. originally, I had set this 12.9" up from a backup from my previous 9.7" iPad. Anyway, that worked and backups are happening again as they are supposed to.
Only thing is, I have Affinity Photo for iPad and had initial problems getting Raw photos to load for editing. So I ended up deleting/reinstalling the App three times before getting it to be able to load my Raw photos. You guessed it, now that I was forced to load it again from my Purchased Apps after having to erase my iPad/reset up, this AP for iPad App will not load my Raw photos again. Tried it four times now with no success. Just venting on that, sorry.

Thanks for coming back and updating us. I'm sorry you weren't able to get it fixed promptly
