Since I upgraded to iOS 9, iCloud backup is not working anymore.

I managed to complete one backup after I deleted all the old backups and probably pushed the back up now button for over two hours until eventually one backup was completed.

Since then, no automatic update could succesfully be completed. This was a week ago.

Googling the issue returns results of many people experiencing the exact same thing.

I had initially the same problem on my older iPhone as well but it's working now. I can't get it to work on my iPhone 6 though.

When you go to backups, it will say that the next backup will be 0kb.

Not only has automated backup disappeared but my battery life has been cut since downloading iOS9

Please open a new thread for your battery problem - this is iCloud backup only please.

But from your response, I gather you have the exact same problem with your iCloud backups. I think we will have to wait for Apple to provide a fix.

I do not recommend doing anything like resetting your device and restoring it completely etc. Way too much work and tiny chance of actually fixing the problem.

What helped for me was to delete all old backups, deactivate iCloud backups for an hour or so and then turn it back on.
Finally pressing that 'Back up now' button multiple times over a period of 2 hours or so did the trick, but only once.

I guess I can trigger another backup by pressing that back up now button relentlessly for two hours or so.

i've been trying to backup since the 27th - no dice. i see the "next backup 0kb" message too in "manage my icloud storage". I deleted my old 5S backup, but left the 6S one from the 27th on there. i've done a restart, and hit the "backup now" button probably 6 times in the past hour - no luck yet. i'll try disabling the icloud backup next - but i won't delete my only 6S backup... >_< I have another one but it's an itunes one... and I keep that at work.. :(

There I was thinking the 9.0.2 would provide a fix only to be disappointed after installing it.

Backup is still not working. I consider this to be quite a serious issue and yet they are not doing anything about it.

It was the first thing I tried to do, very disappointing that it still hasn't been fixed.

same problem here, "last backup could not be completed". I have been trying for two days now, even deleted my previous backups, no luck yet.

9.0.2 did not fix it.

I'm also having the same issue .. I turned off iCloud backup and deleted, then turn it back on & it seemed to have worked for one backup & now it's no longer working again. I set up an appointment with the genius bar for Monday hopefully they will have some answers. BTW I'm running iOS 9.0.2 on an iPhone 6.

That's what I did as well to get it work once. Not working anymore.

Thanks for response above, I'll try the network reset but that's as far as I would go.
Apple clearly needs to release an update as there are quite a few people experiencing this issue.

Update ... So I went to the Genius Bar today & they really didn't have a answer to this problem. The only resolution they felt might fix the problem is to reset the phone to New and start all over again, not happy about it but I did it.. Let's see what happens.

iCloud backup is working fine on all my devices and those of everyone in the house and I suspect that for those that it isn't working for, it could be an iCloud problem rather than a device problem.

I'd recommend trying apple support via web chat or telephone rather than the Genius Bar: I had a problem with family purchases not showing and they were brilliant in getting to the cause of the problem and fixing it at their end

i just bit the bullet on paying 99 cents for 50 gb of iCloud. my iPhone hasn't completed a backup either. its my guess you can't backup your iPhone while its uploading pictures to iCloud photo library. that is what it seems to be over here.

i got the cheapest slowest uverse you can get, and i feel backing up to iCloud is not worth it if my upstream is the slowest.
its been trying to backup for 3 days. the ipad completed one backup. but the iPhone has yet to complete one backup

i feel like cancelling it and going back to iTunes. i backup to iTunes primarily but sometimes weeks go by and i don't backup

Let us know how that worked for you.
I might wipe and restore as well but I think it is an iCloud bug. I have been succesfully backing up to iCloud since it was released as an option.

Taking it in to an Apple Store will result in a full restore and set up as new so you may as well try that before wasting a trip. If that doesn't fix your issue then obviously go visit apple but I would strongly suggest if nothing you try fixes the issue, a full restore and set up as new would be your best bet and most likely to fix the issue.

i have a feeling i need to run chkdsk and look for lost clusters on icloud! <--- impossible

iPhone cant backup , it stops and it says last backup never

the ipad says last backup yesterday
manage storage / backups says this ipad and 1.6 gigs of backup

when i go to the website www.icloud.com and click on settings it says i have 5.26 gigs of backups

manage storage on the mac says 1.6 gigs of backup for the ipad only

both manage storage on the mac and the web say 36 gigs free

Have you tried resetting network settings and/or resetting by holding home + power for 10 seconds?

I fixed my iphone.
You have to delete the last icloud backup, and then restart your phone, and then hit update.

My iclouds are working fine for me, but I just noticed a difference with the way ios 9 does the auto backup:

On older ios (8 and below), based on the time-stamp, I noticed icloud backup starting like a few minutes after you plug-in the charge cable. On ios 9, the time stamps show the auto backups are done an hour or two after the charge cable is plugged in.

Based on this, I think ios 9 waits till the device is fully charge before doing an auto icloud backup. So question for those having issues, are you leaving your device plugged in long enough?
