Hi,
I noticed last week that I registered with a website that requires email activation but never received it. I put it down as a one off.
Yesterday I tried to activate a taste card and the same thing happened.
Today I tried to reset my password for Natwest Advantage Gold and again no email.
Is iCloud blocking some emails? Never had this before but it seems a bit strange that emails are going missing specifically for anything that requires activation or a password.
Thanks for any help received.

If you do just a cursory search on these forums and on the Internet, you'll see that this is a long-standing problem with Apple's implementation of iCloud email. They silently filter messages, meaning they don't go to Junk, you just never receive them. It's a huge problem and why I don't rely on it.

Still talking to Apple about it. They are ringing me back on Tuesday.

Not true. Every email ever sent to me, from shady or legitimate sources, was received in my inbox. There must be a user-configured spam filter of some kind on the OP's account. You can disable it.

I know this is an old thread, but just want to chime in that I also never receive activation emails for many (but not all) forums, even popular one like Slickdeals.net.

Apparently, iCloud have a "feature" that it can delete email IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT even notifying you or putting it in "junk" email folder. You can Google this and people indeed have problems.

2013: http://appleinsider.com/articles/13...ship-of-emails-containing-pornographic-phrase

The funny thing is that it is, at least for me, limited to forums activation emails. Not sure what exactly these emails contain that warrant Apple removing without notice.

This is their rationale:

We contacted Apple for their comment on the issue, and a spokesperson toldMacworld “Occasionally, automated spam filters may incorrectly block legitimate email. If the customer feels that a legitimate message is blocked, we encourage customers to report it to AppleCare.”

I am running into this problem AGAIN after several months of it being ok with me getting all my emails. Now again, emails are being deleted before I get a chance to see them. it is the oddest thing. They show up on my iPhone for a brief second and then disappear. I MacBook Pro never even gets them at all... not anywhere, junk, trash or inbox. This is infuriating since these are IMPORTANT emails!!!

I have had a mostly okay experience with iCloud mail, but in the end, it cannot be relied upon.

Simple as that. This forum is peppered with threads containing why -- and examples. Some of them are mine.

Gmail and Outlook, in that order, are probably #1 and #2 for send/receive dependability among widespread free services.

What bizarre is that Apple won't even acknowledge this issue, nor try to fix it, even when there are many articles written about it. Apple is pushing the iCloud service, but the basic service (email) is failing spectacularly.

But AppleCare can't do anything about it.. they can't recover email or change the junk mail filter on the iCloud server.

Funny thing is that I moved from Android ecosystems to iOS, then slowly moved away from Gmail to iCloud. But looks like I have to move back, at least, to Gmail.

Google may know "too much about you" but by God, I need a functioning email systems! Not to mention the calendar system works very well. See here on how iCloud is intercepting email invites: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/icloud-calendar-invitations-not-working.1759081/

I've just had this problem having had an irate tradesman on the phone wondering why I haven't paid his invoice. Except it didn't come. He emailed it again - nothing. But it came to two of my other accounts. I've been using iCloud a lot but now I feel I can't trust it.

Uh oh... That's really bad when it start to affect your business. Yeah, I slowly moving away from iCloud. If Apple working on a fix, I'd revert back when they do fix it. But Apple won't acknowledge it, even when there are multiple blogs about it. IIRC, it's even being discussed in Apple Support forum.

Hosted Exchange, Gmail, or Outlook. Seems to be the most reliable major options.

Nice to have service unification on iCloud. Nicer to be able to trust email a little more.

(Although that Reddit thread does have a poster who makes mention of similar issues with Outlook… who knows.)

I never use Outlook, but have used Gmail since its inception (2004?) and never lost an email. Sigh....

I am a sports club secretary, and communicate with the 75 members by email, with addresses in Bcc. Three days ago, emails to iCloud accounts were blocked, even though they were successfully sent earlier. Even if I send the email individually to each iCloud recipient, the email is still blocked, and it appears that the recipient is unable to unblock my emails or register them as not spam. This is a very high-handed action of iCloud and needs to be fixed. However, as links to iCloud support seem to be broken, there is little that can be done. Come on, iCloud - offer the option to iCloud users to control their own email, rather than decide by some hidden algorithm that cannot be overturned.

Thanks for sharing. Hopefully helps more technically oriented folks decide well on their email platform.

It's 2022 and I still have the same issue. I have an old Outlook account that forwards emails to my iCloud Mail Account and I realized, that some of the mails disappeared. I also had to sign up here twice as the confirmation email got lost and the first account was locked.
Unfortunately that makes iCloud Mail useless for me, who knows what goes missing all the time.

To confirm, with the forwarding from Outlook Dot Com, have you checked the Junk folder, via a browser on the Outlook Dot Com account?

If emails get caught in that Junk folder, it will not forward. That is one thing that frustrates me, with using Outlook Dot Com, and forwarding emails. Thus, I have to check that folder often, just in case...

Hi, no they are not marked as junk in Outlook. If iCloud mail would move them to the junk folder I would understand but as others wrote as well, they just disappear without a trace.

I'm also still subscribed to this thread. As before, this issue, and the lack of read status synchronization in the background, has kept me from using iCloud for mail. It's unfortunate because I keep all other typical information -- contacts, calendars, etc -- on iCloud.
