I’m experiencing a mess of bookmarks syncing issues. Principally, I think the issue is with iOS 11.3 but is also affecting my MacBook Pro. I first noticed that some bookmarks weren’t being saved but spaces for them persisted and can’t be deleted. Additionally the main bookmark screen on my iPhone is a real mess with multiple bookmarks being duplicated.
I’ve included some screen shots from my iPhone and my iPad mini to show what I’m seeing. The main bookmark page on the iPad mini is how all of them should should look. I’m interested in knowing if anyone else is experiencing this and what can be done to resolve it. I think the blank spaces can only be deleted by deleting the whole folder but I haven’t tried since they are the least of the problem.
On the mbp, the main bookmark page is wacked, but not as bad as the iPhones and the empty spaces don’t show in the Tech, etc folder. This is why i suspect the problem is with iOS.

I am having this same issue it is driving me insane. I'm going to get connected to with a senior apple adviser today. My issue is they are all scrambled. It is syncing the same bookmarks across all my devices mac/iPhone/iPad but they are all disorganized. I try turning off iCloud on all devices turning it back on one by one. I tried deleting them and syncing to start fresh starting with my Mac where they are organized but nothing. Its so frustrating. Let me know if you find a solution.

Nothing yet. I haven’t contacted Apple yet. Let me know if theres a solution beyond waiting for a software update.

I have just experienced something similar for the first time.

Saving a new bookmark on my iOS device (11.3) shows a blank line like you. I wonder if it’s iOS or the iCloud back end?

I’m not sure. Was hoping to crowd source the bug here but I think I have to bite the bullet and call Apple. It needs to addressed.

I have noticed iCloud nuking all my bookmarks off my PC/google chrome browser when I run a software update on my Mac that updates Safari. The bookmarks come back eventually NEARLY ALWAYS, but sometimes it takes days, and at least twice I was forced to put them back manually.

It’s starting to become a bit annoying now. I use bookmarks a lot. Did you report it, did they give you any useful information?

This sounds like it might be a different problem.

I called Apple today and spoke to support. I explained the situation and asked if there were any known issues regarding this. He said there was a report that bookmarks were disappearing and being duplicated, which is some of what I am experiencing. I turned off Safari in iCloud on all my devices, MBP, iPhone and iPad mini, selecting "Delete from my xxx" rather than "Keep on my xxx". After doing this on all devices, I turned Safari back on in iCloud, choosing "Merge iCloud data". This removed the empty bookmark links. Time will tell if it addressed the bug itself.
He passed along this link, which has some helpful info in recovering deleted bookmarks via iCloud.com, however when I looked through it I only saw links that I actually deleted, not the ones deleted by the bug or whatever was deleting them. Hope this helps.

FWIW same issue after upgrading to latest iOS and macOS: bookmarks get duplicated, lost, blank entries appear, and bookmarks appear to save but later disappear.

The blank entries were only on my iPad, and I managed to get rid of them by turning bookmark syncing off & on… but that hasn't helped anything else.

It also turns out Safari's Reading List (appears) to use a hidden bookmark folder to sync, so that's also screwed up.

There's other reports over on the Apple Forums, and I've submitted feedback.

It does seem to be iOS 11.3.1 — whenever it touches the bookmarks it removes any new entries and substitutes semi-duplicates of existing bookmarks — or makes blank entries — at the top level of the bookmark hierarchy.

I got some changes to stick this morning by turning off Safari syncing on my iOS devices (deleting local copy), making the bookmark changes on my Mac, then turning syncing back on.

yeah, same here! got this issue since 11.3. and my solution is to turn off safari toggle under icloud setting and then back on.
seems to me that this issue persists in 11.4.
and i also found that if i save the bookmark directly to the root rather than inside a folder, this issue doesn;t happen. and then i move that bookmark inside the folder later.

iOS 11.4 fixed this for me when upgraded a few days ago; haven’t upgraded to latest macOS 10.13.5 yet.
