iCloud/Chrome Bookmark sync

Hi everyone. I have a Macbook and an iPad and at the moment Safari is the default browser on both. The reason is simple- you can't change the default browser on an iPad like you can on a laptop and I want to keep my bookmarks on both synced. I keep using the desktop version of Safari because when I create a bookmark on the iPad, I like that it's also there on the Macbook.

That said, if I could keep the bookmarks on iOS Safari in sync with the OSX version of Chrome, I'd probably switch over to Chrome on the Mac. I know there is a Chrome extension for Windows users that allows them to sync their iCloud bookmarks with Chrome, but when you try installing it on a Mac, you get a popup dialog box that says "If you are using a Mac, your Safari bookmarks will automatically sync with your iPhone, iPad, and Mac when you sign in to iCloud on all your devices." Yet so far, nothing is syncing. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

You're trying to use a windows only extension on OS X. I haven't looked at the extension yet, but I bet it's dependent on the iCloud control panel for Windows to operate properly.

Oh, I understand that part. What I don't get is that Chrome tells me that on Macs, Chrome bookmarks should automatically sync via iCloud- yet I don't see any syncing. In other words, it should sync without any additional extensions.

In what you posted, it said "Safari bookmarks will automatically sync" and not Chrome.

Okay, now I feel a bit dumb. They couldn't have worded that a little differently? Thanks Bear. I wonder if there's a 3rd party extension or something...

Third party option

I've discovered a 3rd party extension called "Xmarks" that syncs bookmarks across browsers. Works on all major browsers, or so it seems. It's working so far!
