In Outlook or Gmail new emails arrive automatically when on the web version. When using the web version for iCloud new email only appears if you refresh the page. Seriously?! Why is new mail not coming through automatically?

I want to make iCloud my daily go-to for personal email but things like the above really make it difficult to make the jump esp if you only have the web version.

I just checked and emails come through without refreshing. It's not instant, took a bit longer than usual but likely because iCloud has a slower refresh rate than something like GMail.

They came through automatically on the web version of iCloud?

Yup, I opened the web version, sent an email from a different provider (GMail) and it arrived, within 60 seconds, it updated the web browser to show the new email without me touching it.

I sent a message from Gmail to my iCloud.com account and it arrived in about 20 seconds with a notification on my Mac informing me.

I’ve tried using Chrome and Edge and nothing ever comes through unless I hit the refresh button within the mail app. Very strange and one of the reasons why I have a love/hate with @icloud.com webmail.

I dropped Safari for Firefox a few months ago and much prefer it.

My dilemma is that while I would love a Mac I most likely will never make the jump because the various software needed for my job can only work on a PC, so it means only having the web versions of iCloud. I could technically run it through Outlook on Windows but prefer to keep Outlook work only.

Understood.

Nice avatar - they would have won in ‘94 if the damn strike didn’t occur.
I was fortunate that due to a grandfather who worked for Charles Bronfman, as a 10 year old I attended quite a few games in the first two seasons 69 and 70, some of which I was seated with my baseball loving mother in the first row behind the Expos dugout. What a wonderful environment in Jarry Park in those days.

Wow that’s awesome! Those are the experiences that you will never forget. I’m a little bit younger so I remember the ‘92 Jays - we must have gone to 30 games that season & then seeing them beat the Braves was the cherry on top.

So today anything I send to iCloud webmail is showing less than 5 seconds after being sent. Weird.
