iCloud Contacts?

I can't figure out how to add contacts to
iCloud. I have to use iTunes Sync to get them on my phone. Can someone explain how I can make my Address Book (Mac) contacts sync through iCloud? Thanks.

You upgrade to os x 10.7.2: https://www.macrumors.com/2011/10/12/apple-releases-os-x-10-7-2-with-icloud-support/

I have upgraded to 10.7.2.

Settings--->iCloud---> turn contacts 'on'? It should ask you to merge or something.
