My icloud drive uploading seems to be stuck.. I can't log out of my icloud account until it's stopped syncing. :/

After a reboot it says its uploading zero KB of 952.4MB and.. Well, thats it. It's just sat there.

iphoto library seems to have the same problem, it's just sat there doing nothing.. Everything else on the system seems to be working fine. (although i have to input icloud password on every boot) - is there a work-around for any of this?

Did uploading begin for you?

For me:
  • featherweight tests were free from problems
  • results from my first middleweight test (more than 1 GB) are suggestive of problems with remote services and/or the OS –

– in the most recent round, the amount uploaded has risen from 3 MB at 01:41 (screenshot above) to 10 MB at 03:05.

Not stuck at zero bytes, but less than 7 MB per hour :D

To any user of Feedback Assistant who can produce (ideally, reproduce) an unusually slow upload rate: if you like, feed a bug to Apple.

28.5 MB (screen shot below), that's 18.5 MB per 6h20m. Spotlight can't find Calculator.app, I'll make a per-second calculation later, elsewhere. that's around 0.0008 MB per second.

I'll give the internal hard disk drive of this MacBookPro8.2 to ongoing tests of the installer for TrueOS Desktop (leaving build 16A239m of Sierra where it is, on an external drive).

The unchanged burp.txt file (11 bytes) that was apparently uploading at 01:41 and apparently not uploaded at 09:25 is apparently uploaded:

I assume that the unbroken cloud icon signifies a file that is stored both locally and on iCloud Drive.

Gave up yesterday, lazily started the Mac today, ignored it for around four hours then a pleasant surprise.

At some point during four hours and forty minutes of uptime, it 'leapt' from less than 100 MB, to 1.05 GB uploaded:

Given that I didn't observe things properly, leap might be not the best word but hey, anything more than "0.0008 MB per second" must be good

More than two hours later it's still at 1.05 GB. I'll take a risk and start in normal mode instead of safe mode, let's see whether CPU hogging recurs …

I uninstalled that release and went back to El Cap briefly.. Then reinstalled the next Sierra PB (to a new external SSD), and the problem didn't happen again for me.. Everything just sync'd without issue, thankfully!

Thanks.

Here at the time of writing, with the OS booted in safe mode –
Code:
Mashemite:Documents grahamperrin$ uptime
19:06 up 3 days, 21:03, 2 users, load averages: 3.34 2.78 1.74
– and around two thousand files remain to be uploaded. Still working with the first batch, which began two weeks ago, although the Mac has not been on constantly.

Two shots from this morning:

– appearances and disappearances of progress indicators are often inconsistent.

Still apparently stuck for long periods (and still I find it necessary to boot in safe mode to avoid excessively intrusive hogging of the CPU by kernel_task). For the past few minutes, apparently stuck at "uploading 1,258 items (4.6 MB of 4.6 MB)".

I'm reasonably certain that if I leave it with Sierra overnight, a little more of that small amount will upload. However, now's the time for me to stop running Apple's pre-release on this Mac – its internal hard disk drive is to be given to beta testing installations of TrueOS Desktop.

Uptime in safe mode: fifteen hours, and Finder showed 'uploading 39 items (4.0 MB of 4.0 MB)'.

Occasionally the number of items goes down then up, occasionally the amount to be uploaded goes down then up, and so on – and such variations in measurements occur with neither ~/Desktop nor ~/Documents modified.

Whilst drafting this post the status bar ceased to show an amount to be uploaded, but the window above it shows two upload-related pies as incomplete.

Maybe the upload will finish today … time for me to retry normal mode.

Postscript, 2016-08-13: as far as I could tell, the upload did finish but (off-topic) normal mode is not good enough for me to test, so for the current build of the OS I do not intend to test whether apparently stuck sync is a reproducible symptom.
