So I’m going to travel and I have important documents backed up on my iCloud Drive. Is there a way to disable my iCloud drive on my phone so its “deleted“ on my phone but is still in the “cloud” and a copy of the iCloud remains on my Macbook Pro?

You can just turn off iCloud Drive in Settings-->User Name-->iCloud-->iCloud Drive, toggle it off.
No need to delete the app.

Out of interest, why are you happy having it on your laptop but not on your phone. I travel a lot, never switch it off.

Leaving my Laptop at home. But having financial stuff on my phone is nu bueno.

dude I’m traveling international. Border police have asked for phones and look through it. I want to avoid that. Any more questions?

Dude so am I. Only for entry of the USA that is a possible concern, other nations follow proper laws and require a warrant. Naturally it Depends to what’s in it. Social
Media would be a bigger concern in general If there is something dodgy in there or have dodgy friends.
Where in the hell do you travel for that to happen?
USA most likely. Otherwise a warrant will be required.
