iCloud Drive links?

If iCloud Drive is up for testing in the current beta, is anyone able to check & see if it's possible to create links to files like you can in Dropbox / others?

I know there is the email thing where if the recipient isn't on a mac they get a link to the file, but is it possible to just flat generate the links with in the folder, perhaps via right click or a menu button?

iCloud shows up as a drive on the left hand side of a finder window. I just created a text file and dropped it into the root of the iCloud drive.

Anything you put into iCloud while on a 10.10 or iOS 8 is going to be deleted sometime prior to GM.

The fact stuff will be deleted is expected. I'm just looking to ascertain if the link feature has made it yet. Hopefully it will in a future build.

We haven't had an OS as focused around iCloud as much as these two. I can't recall being warned that iCloud will be deleted other than the move from iDisk/Mobileme but I could be off a little.
I usually print out the release notes and I keep them beside my main test machine so If I run across a problem I can compare if it is a known issue or if I "found" a bug then I note it and submit so hopefully Apple can fix by the next one or two builds.
The more things we can find early on the better the final result should be. IMHO.

It seems reasonably logic to assume though that any data put on there will be deleted.

That being said I don't see a reason why data couldn't remain once the beta is over, you would just have to pay to increase your storage size if you're over capacity or delete files before you can add more.

Links in iCloud

You can create a UNIX hard link in the iCloud folder, and the linked file will show up in the cloud. Problem is that if anything happens to the contents of iCloud, the linked document might also disappear. (I linked a folder, and when I deleted the link from iCloud the contents of the folder were deleted.) So this is no better than putting the original file in the cloud. Symbolic links do not seem to work.

No option for a "Share link" feature in Finder.
iCloud drive web app doesn't have it also.

This is a very basic feature that is missing from iCloud drive and i don't really understand why.

This whole iCloud drive concept is totally confusing. What is Apples vision with it? is it a Dropbox or Google Drive replacement..?

When they first presented it back in WWDC, they said it would be "like Dropbox", but it nothing like it! not even close..!
