iCloud Drive vs Time Machine Restore

This hypothetical has been wracking my brain since I recently migrated to iCloud Drive: all files, Desktop, Documents, App containers, etc

Lets say, hypothetically:

• I back up my Mac on Monday with Time Machine
• I work all week long, modifying and creating 100's of files, all stored in iCloud Drive
• On Friday, my Mac won't load, big problem, so I wipe the Mac and restore it from Mondays Time Machine instance.
• I log in:

1) Does iCloud Drive replace all my restored-from-Monday-files with Fridays current iCloud Drive files,

or

2) Does the Time Machine Mondays-files-restore replace my iCloud Drive's Friday current files ?
