Since yesterday, I'm not able to access my icloud mails anymore on any of my android or windows devices using a mail app. It was working fine till yesterday.

I can still logon to my AppleID via browser icloud.com and then read the emails. But across all my devices, the mail app says invalid username/password. But with the same password, I can login to my icloud account via icloud.com and access emails.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Any ideas??

I have the same problem with collecting my mac.com e-mails on my android phone. But I can't even log into icloud on it either. It is all to do with the new two-factor authentication system which came in on 15th June. The only way I can collect my mail now is on my MacBook Pro.

I have spoken to two people at Apple Support and both said they had not had any calls about it - I was very surprised. I can't use two-factor authentication unless I upgrade my laptop OS, which I don't really want to do. They also don't seem to be able to guarantee that if I do upgrade it will solve my problem.

I would also like to know if anyone else has had this problem and whether they have solved it.

Thanks.

Apple have made it mandatory for all iCloud emails to use Two Factor Authentication for third party apps - meaning you will have to generate a password for Gmail / Outlook or whatever you are using on your android.

Go to appleid website and log in. Then enable two factor authentication. You will have to wait 3 days before your account is ready and will get an email to continue / finish setting it up. Once set up, go into security on appleid site and generate application password for gmail /outlook and use that on the device.

sorted.

I only wish it was sorted :) it's easier if you own an Apple product but without it can be troublesome

My account no problem, you login into appleid and go to generate password and all you get is a link to do it for IOS etc then you have to go to another link that finally tells you how to do it for a non IOS/MacOS device

eg logon on to your apple mail account and if your lucky you will be prompted to set up two factor security, once this is done you can log back on to your applid and generate your unique password (Tip generate one for each non Apple product, up to 25 supported) then copy and paste/send to your non apple device and replace the password with this new one with dashes etc

However with my wife's account now over 6 days it won't work :( can't invoke setup two factor

Yeah in retrospect I must say they made it very convoluted of you don't have a Mac with el-captitan or above, or an iOS device.

It took me a couple of attempts to sort it for someone who was still on 10.9 and using an android not an iOS device.

They should have sorted the ability to enable two step authentication easily before forcing people to use it in a convoluted manner.

At last I got it to send a mail to my wife's account saying we must wait till 29th to set up two step :rolleyes: about time since it went down on the 16th

So different to my account that was immediate but took 3 logon attempts
