icloud email vanished

I was able to get my icloud emails on my iMac until yesterday when it vanished for some reason. I cannot add an icloud address via the preferences, internet accounts and mail settings. It asks me to log in and then stops doing anything at all.
I am running BigSur 11.6
Any suggestions?

I don't think I changed anything apart from downloading "clean my Mac" which I didn't use.

Are you able to view and send and receive emails via your account on icloud.com?

On my iphone yes and on the internet if I log in I think so.
