Hi, I have a few questions about iCloud in terms of the type of cloud storage offered from day 1. Am I right in thinking, video as well as photo's and music will be stored in the cloud? In addition, does it offer generic file storage for Pages documents, PDF's and other files I might need to backup?

And lastly, will iCloud be available as a release with Lion or will it still be beta only?

Many thanks, Rob.

All information about iCloud can be found on Apple's site - http://www.apple.com/icloud/

According to the site...

iCloud backs up your:

Purchased music, apps, and books
Photos and video in the Camera Roll
Device settings
App data
Home screen and app organization
Text and MMS messages
Ringtones

...documents will also be saved on the cloud (http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/documents.html) although it will only work originally for iWork.

Coming soon to third-party apps.

iCloud is already seamlessly integrated with Apple iWork apps. And we’ve given developers the tools to make their apps work with iCloud, too. So you’ll be able to paint a masterpiece, create reminders, edit stock lists, and more — and have it all stay with you on all your devices, including your Mac or PC.

As for the release date. Steve said during the keynote that it would roll out in the Fall (Autumn in real English), so that's after Lion is released.

I thought iCloud was due for release on IOS in Autumn but for Mac with the Lion release. However, I guess it's a cloud service and therefore all devices will get it when ready.

Now, we're all up to speed as to Apple allowing you to re-download previous music purchases (except outside the U.S., like here in Australia )

BUT

Does anyone know if you can re-download previously purchased (obviously not rented) movies?
