Hi,
i'm having some issues with icloud find my mac.
device: imac m1 24" clean install of sonoma macos 14.1. install was done by putting the device in dfu mode and used a second mac with apple configurator and ipsw file recovery.

icloud setup was done. location services allow find my mac. in icloud settings find my mac is activated. In find my app i get the location status of this mac but when i click the device in my icloud devices, find my mac has status off.

none of the following fixed the issue:
re-installation of macos
setting find my mac to off in icloud settings - reboot - setting find my mac to on in icloud settings
logout from icloud - reboot - login to icloud
stop location sharing
deactivation of location services - reboot - activation of location services
re-install of macos with a different name of the mac

has anyone also faced this issue on a clean sonoma install?

I some one need screenshots i can share them here of the issue, but only in german because my devices are all installt in german language

BR,

Same issue - watching thread...

Unfortunately I've yet to find a solution, though "Find My Mac" does actually seem to be on and working as I can see my M1 iMac listed on the Find My app on itself and other machines. It's just listed as Off under Device Info. Which is irritating and a concern if I ever did need to use Find My Mac in anger in case it didn't work properly.

Nope - Find My Mac status still off... 🙄

To be fair my iMac also frequently swears blind that it can't find my printer - which lives next to it on the desk! 😆 I think it's just unobservant and doesn't like being told what to do..!

had yesterday a call with Apple Support. After a view tests the support guy thinks that it is a software bug. he made same screenshots and captured logs from my imac for further investigations.
