I quickly looked but did not see anything, but is there anything in the works to "match" our movie and books in iTunes and make them available in the cloud?

I am much more interested in the books than the movies. I get discounts on technical books from my employer so I do not purchase them via iBookstore. Also, I have tons of technical PDFs that would be nice to access if I don't happen to have them on my iPad.

Thoughts?

Movies are now available on iCloud in some countries.

Documents in the Cloud is part of Mountain Lion, it may help with the PDFs.

But the movies on iCloud do not "match" my ripped ones. I guess I should have clarified that.

I will play around with the PDFs. Only issue is that they are stored on my Snow Leopard server which I use for my iTunes media hub. I would hate to have them stored in two different locations.

No, unfortunately there are copyright issues that prevent iTunes from 'matching' your ripped collection right now. There is an initiative, Ultraviolet, that could help with this for future movies, but not for your existing collection AFAIK.
