Hello,

I would like to synch gmail calendar with iCloud? Would it be possilble or is there any trick to do so?

I'm curious why you want to use both?

i'm torn between switching from Google calendar to iCloud - so far i dont really have any good reason to leave Google..

Redundancy would be one reason, but to keep using Google services while being able to sync Apple devices with iClould would be useful.

That said....I can't think of a good way to do this off the top of my head (if it is even possible at all).

The best solution I can think of is to subscribe to your iCloud calendars in Google Calendar. It doesn't allow you to modify inside Google, but it's something. You could do it the other way around if you prefer too, but since iCloud syncs better with iCal and iOS, I'd personally prefer the first way.

What I really want is to sync contacts with both iCloud and Google, partially cuz of Gmail, but especially because of Google Voice. Unfortunately the only possible solution I can think of is to sync my Mac Address Book with Google, sync contacts with my iPod when I sync, and have my iPod sync to iCloud. I don't know if that would even work though :/

When i picked up my iPhone (back in may) i set up a GmMail calendar just so i could easily sync my calendar.

Now i want to go all Apple and use iCloud. I am just not clear how exactly to do this. When i look in my iMac calendar app it shows my default calendar as my @yahoo.com email address (which is my Gmail cal account). I have set up iCloud on my iMac and i have created an @me mail account (also leaving yahoo and moving to @me for my email).

Ok so my questions are, in the calendar app do i make one of the iCloud calendars as my default mail app and if i remove the Gmail account from my computer then will i loose all of the calendar events that were created prior to iCloud.

This makes no sense whatsoever. Google calendar (as well as its other services) ARE the cloud, just not By Apple. You can easily sync Google calendar/email/contacts with IOS devices. There is no need to insert iCloud into the mix.

Ditto. Google just works for syncing calendars, mail & contacts between all of my iOS devices and my Mac. I'm reluctant to mess with it and risk breaking it, especially when you consider the stupid way that iCloud's Documents has been implemented.

How on earth do you subscribe to a public iCloud calendar in google calendar. I get a message where it says it won't add due do something called robots.txt

Right. This is a known problem since iCloud was started. You could do this with MM but not iCloud. You can search on robots.txt to find more threads. I was using this to share my work calendar with co-workers that were using Google Calendar. There were only 3 and they switched to Windows Live Calendar which works.

Hitekalex is right... anything I do on my gmail calendar in the iPhone is automatically updated everywhere else near-instantly and vice versa, as it's always been. I also have an android phone, and it also sees all changes within a second of input from other devices.

It sounds like you're trying to "double-cloud" or something.

For functionality icloud is superior - all the PDA stuff, bookmark sync, and idevice backup.
I've noticed that the event alerts breaks from time to time in gcal, and there is no reminder/todo functionality.
So, I exported my google cal calendars, and imported them into icloud, did the same with contacts.
I think Google are starting to slip now. iCloud has the edge.

Sync icloud and google? I don't understand the reasoning behind why you need to do it, archive it.

Sorry to bring this back up but I am searching for a way to sync icloud calendars and gmail calendars as well. Here is why. I have an ipad and a macbook pro. I have an iphone, android phone and am picking up a windows phone. I like switching back and forth between the phones. So since I can't use icloud syncing on the android phone for calendar and contacts nor on the windows phone I use my Google account.

For all my Apple devices I use the icloud account. I want all my iCloud data (contacts, calendar) to sync with my Google data (contacts, calendar) so that no matter which device I might be using at that time the info will be the same.

I have an app that works on the android phone to sync my icloud calendar and allow me to edit it but I would prefer something that runs in the background on my computer. I see there is spanning sync but that is a $25 yearly license instead of a single purchase.

There is no way to directly sync iCloud data with Gmail data and have it work the way you want. One or the other, not both.

Your best bet might be to simply copy the events into the other calendar to keep them both similar.

I also cannot see why this would be necessary but someone may have a reason that I haven't thought of.

There's a paid service at Memotoo.com that can sync quite a bit of different services.

I tried using it to sync contacts from two Google accounts to Address Book via CardDav. Sort of worked but I think the way Address Book handles CardDav made it a CPU hogging disaster.

Same as what I told the guy before you - use Google for everything.

If you want your data on different platforms - you need a cross-platform cloud service. That would be Google services, not iCloud.

Why do so many people insist on making things more complicated than they need to be?

Actually looks like BusySync will do the syncing of my iCloud calendars for me through iCal on my mac and publish to Google just fine. Works for me.

Why do people have to question why others want things a certain way? Besides figuring out ways to do different things is part of the fun.

A scenario where this could prove beneficial to someone is lets say someone who only uses iCloud wants to share their calendar with someone that uses an Google and an Android or WP7 phone. By syncing that iCloud data to a gmail account they can then share that calendar to someone else who otherwise wouldn't have been able to view the iCloud calendar.

Well, I feel (maybe is a placebo effect) that iCloud consumes less battery than Google services on my iPhone.

old post sorry

I know this is an old post, but older busycal doesn't seem to work anymore. won't let an icloud calendar "publish" to gmail calendar. Or back and forth. Any way to get this working again, other work around.

I need to publish from my work calendar in icloud to a work calendar in google gcal gmail calendar
