iCloud/ID Help Suggestion

I updated to iOS5 yesterday, created an iCloud account/ID using the same email I've used for iTunes (@yahoo). I then decided I wanted an @me email/account so that I could later change my iTunes ID and have one in the same for all things Apple. As most of you know you can not change your iTunes ID to an @me email. By the time I figured this out, I had already deleted the original (@yahoo) iCloud account within the Settings App and created a new iCloud login with a new @me email.

Seeing as I cant merge the two (change my original iTunes account to the new @me) I figured I would use the original account I set up. I signed back in within the Settings App however when I go to enable Email I'm prompted to Create, not Login, a new @me account. And this is the problem I'm running into, the @me email I wish to use is now taken, by me, as I created just minutes earlier. I cant seem to find a way to disable/delete the account. I called Apple and well they were really no help at all. They simply directed me to the FAQs on iCloud posted on apple.com.


I could just as easy continue with the original login and create a new @me account however I was lucky enough to score a simple @me address and would really prefer to utilize it.

I have a related issue. When I tried to sync my notes, it said I needed an @me account to do so. I've been wanting to switch anyway to keep my data separate from my wife and kids. So I went ahead and picked my email, got it, then it ended. I never got to choose a password.

So now I have an @me account I want to use for iCloud and I can't use it because I don't have a password. Any ideas?

I have question i just backed up both my iphone 1.5gbs and ipad 2.0gbs on Ickoud. All i have on both are apps and music that i have purchased on itunes. My free space shows only 1.5gbs left. I thought apps and songs that were purchsed didnt count against your 5gbs. Thanks

Can you log into iCloud.com with the @me credentials?

Yes. I can log tino iCloud.com however the settings options is very limited. Or it links me to appleid.apple.com to access/update my account directly on the apple site.

Neither site provides the option to disable/delete permanently.

I think i get it. Your doing it wrong. [EDIT: YOU are not doing anything wrong rather it is very unclear and not intuitive]

To be clear, you are now logged into iCloud with the yahoo AppleID yes? And then you go into settings or iCloud and try and enable mail yes? If so, has to be done differently. Instead, go into Settings>mail, cal, etc and choose to add another iCloud account. Now log in with the @me credentials. This creates the 2nd account on your phone. Now enable mail there and or any other features you want i.e. contacts. But you don't have to since you can create on device contacts and managed them through iCloud (tied to yahoo) and or if your contacts are in yahoo, you can add a third account, your yahoo account, and pull in contacts from there.

I get what you're saying and thought about doing this as an alternative. The only thing I see as a problem, which honestly isn't a problem at all but more so of a nuisance, to me anyway, is that I would essentially have two iCloud logins. One which utilizes all the iCloud features, minus email. And a second just for the email account. I would then have to add both to all of my devices (iPhone, iPad, iMac).

I know what you're thinking, adding the account twice to a few devices isn't much a hassle but I'm a bit anal when it comes to having everything on one account. Combined with the fact that I would have to use two different logins on the iCloud site really bugs me.

I'd go the other way. Use the Me.com as your main iCloud. That way one account. Then just log into the store with yahoo. That way all devices one iCloud accpunt
