Hey guys are you seeing iMessages not downloading on your device when iCloud iMessages is turned on? I just got a new phone and its not downloading all my messages even though its done restoring from backup and the sync from the iCloud servers looks to be done. New messages sent since I got it are not showing up on the new device at all.

Anyone else having issues with it not syncing/loading all messages?

I have the same problem with my old iPhone X.
After update to 12.1.2 it stopped syncing.
iPhone XS, iPad (both 12.1.1) and MacBook are still syncing.

Mine took awhile after I set up my X as new a few days ago. It only finished the sync after I put it on the charger overnight

So are you guys seeing it finish after a while? I sent my new max up last night but this morning the texts didn’t all download even though it was plugged in and on the charger

Yes, mine all downloaded. It took overnight for it to finish. Plugged in and connected to wifi

I received a replacement X yesterday after my device was broken during its battery replacement. I started setting the new one up at 3:30pm and now at 9:14am, the next morning, I still do not have my texts downloaded yet.

My sim is in this device. My iPad pro was having some issues synching iMessage so I reset it and restored from an iCloud backup and it is working now. I think that the message sync is a bit flaky. You might try resetting and restoring from iCloud to see if that helps

Plugged in and on WiFi right?

See my max doesn’t have the sim in it yet because the messages aren’t fully there so I’m using my old X which has the sim in it and is getting all my texts still

At the moment it’s not syncing. Even SMS forwarding stopped working on the 12.1.2 device. What is working is sync for deleting already synced messages.

Tried to disable iCloud messages.
Get a popular saying not everything is synced and if it should download missing messagesnow. Isn’t working either. Won’t renenable it because the X is getting sold next week.

Be sure and enable text message forwarding on your old x to forward to your new phone. This ensure sms messages get forwarded to the new phone since the sim is still in your old phone

I don’t think that needs to be on for iMessage in iCloud. It should send over everything regardless of it being a text instead of iMessage

Yes, that is true, but if you get non iMessage texts they won't come over to your new phone unless it is turned on

Gotcha. At this point not even iMessages are syncing from my old phone to my new max. I’ve setup as new and tried restore from iCloud backup and nothing has worked. This issue plagued me back in September and then it was resolved and now it’s back for me and many others I presume
