iCloud Issue - Older Mid 2010 iMac on Sierra 10.12.6

I'm at frustrating situation that popped out of nowhere yesterday morning on my trusty 2010 iMac.
I noticed I was unable to send text via iMessage, which was never a problem before.

Trying to login to iMessage with my current Apple ID, password it stated "You are not allowed to do that" (huh!?) Or You have no internet connection - which I do. *Entering my ID into iTunes and Apple app store is no affected. My Calendar, iMessage, and FaceTime video will not login.

Anyway, so I totally logged out of iCloud and after multiple attempts, even updating my Apple ID password, I STILL cannot log back in without these goofy errors. *My iPhone, iPad has been fine even after my Apple ID password update.

Other sites I have seen online or some YT tutorials - Go to ~/Library - Application Support, Accounts [delete those], Keychains removals, other tips listed here ( https://appletoolbox.com/mac-cant-connect-to-icloud-here-are-7-ways-to-fix-it/ ) have not worked. PRAM resets, again nothing.

Again, baffled. This just started out of nowhere yesterday (Sat.) morning.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

**Update**
THIS fixed my problem - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251211674 -

It had to do with an Apple Certificate (https://www.apple.com/certificateauthority/) in my Keychain, by downloading this (link above under Discussions. Apple. com), double clicking it...inserting it into the Keychain. Login to iCloud simply worked again. Frustration gone.

Odd, something must went haywire out of nowhere.
So..hope this helps others.

Wow. I had the same problem pop up out of nowhere a few days ago and have been trying to figure out a solution without reinstalling the OS. Thanks for sharing the fix!

However, this certificate is valid until May 22 only… Anyway, this new bug is also present on iOS 10 and High Sierra too. I’ve left a feedback @Apple as I guess it’s (again) some problems on their side.

I have the same issue. Do I just drop the cert into folder for keychains? Like, go>go to folder>keychains and then drop it in? I'm pc illiterate.

I think you click on it or open keychain and import… Anyway, that’s the only solution until Apple solves it on their side…

Thank you so much! And thanks to the OP! I was literally about to have to wipe my whole Mac and start again with Big Sur. What a life saver!

Yes, they consider that it is not worth their time to fix it for old devices I guess

Hmm. Yeah, looks like that certificate was issued 2 years ago. So, when it expires next month, should we expect the issue to return? If so, is there any kind of keychain fix that a knowledgable user could come up with? Or are we just at the mercy of Apple and whether or not they decide to offer a new cert?

I just downloaded it, double clicked on it. It imported this into my Keychain.

But...yes, this does expire May 22 as previously mentioned, so...we'll see what happens in about a month. ??‍♂️?

Some had problems on High Sierra, i.e., iCloud wasn’t working anymore on May 21 but Apple issued a new certificate. For good measure, I’ve replaced the old one on my Sierra MBP.

Now, seeing that you are still fine, maybe it wasn’t necessary.

Having issues again, exactly the same ones that I had at the onset before I came here and got the fix.
